ALIA, the new AI model in Spanish and co-official languages

What is ALIA and why is it important?

ALIA is a pioneering project that seeks to provide a public artificial intelligence infrastructure to promote the use and development of Spanish and Spain´s co-official languages (Catalan, Basque, Galician and Valencian). Moreover, it is 100% publicly funded, which guarantees universal access for the benefit of society, especially for SMEs and the self-employed operating in Spanish-speaking countries.

But what is the added value it brings compared to other artificial intelligence models?

1. Transparency: as an open-source model, any company can access, modify and adapt its code according to its needs. This not only ensures transparency but also fosters collaboration and innovation.

2. Local richness: the training models of this artificial intelligence are designed to understand and accurately process our languages, customs and cultural particularities.

3. Boosting efficiency and research: ALIA is already working on two pilot projects, a chatbot for the Tax Agency, which will optimize citizen service and speed up administrative procedures, and for the analysis of medical data achieving an earlier and more accurate diagnosis of heart failure.

In addition to these two projects, as mentioned above, these models will be available for Spanish-speaking SMEs and freelancers to boost their autonomy and productivity.

Thanks to its focus on improving the productivity and competitiveness of Spanish companies, ALIA is positioned as a strategic ally for your business. Among its many options, you can use its models to:

1. Improve customer service: ALIA's resources will allow you to train your own chatbots in Spanish and the co-official Spanish languages.  To complement this initiative, ALIA KIT has been created, a space where resources are compiled in Spanish, Valencian, Catalan, Galician and Basque. Here you can also find the methodologies, documentation and datasets used in the training of these models, facilitating their access to researchers, developers and companies.
