As ONTSI points out “Digital transformation is an opportunity that must be seized to foster greater gender equality and build a more inclusive digital world”.
So, to boost female recognition and participation in STEM, the UN established February 11 as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.
And we want to celebrate by highlighting 4 female pioneers of digitization:
-
Ada Lovelace: known as the first female programmer in history, as she wrote the first algorithm. She also worked on the mechanical calculator, which later became the modern computer.
-
Radia Perlman: known as the mother of Internet. Her “Spanning Tree” protocol was crucial for the development of communications between computers.
-
Evelyn Berezin: known as the mother of word processors. She was the inventor of the first digital system for writing and editing texts.
-
Frances E. Allen: laid the foundations of program optimization, improving its operation and reducing possible failures.
But these are not all of them, so from Acelera pyme we want to congratulate all the girls and women involved in these fields!
